Building Use: Detached single-family residence
Project Type: New passive house building
Northwest Contemporary 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, private residence hidden in the hills of Western Washington. Designed and built for a young couple looking towards very specific future medical needs. Mobility, fall protection and an avoidance of direct natural light are critical programmatic needs. Brightly painted interior soffits allow solar gain while diffusing the direct sunlight into a golden glow. Constructed using Universal Design throughout, the house allows easy access and visual ties to the beautiful surroundings.

Additional Information: | Clerestory windows give solar gain without harsh direct sunlight. Worked amazingly well. Self-supporting porch structures add steel detailing while minimizing thermal bridging. Built -in HRV ducting chases in dropped ceilings allowed for easy and non-intrusive installation. | |
